What's so great about Reiki?
Many people have different ideas about what reiki is and what it does. Well, people are drawn to reiki for many reasons.
Some feel the benefits of soothing healing touch. Others notice aches and pains dissolve away. Broken hearts are mended, joy is restored, pure potential is realized and life is approached with loving gusto.
It's true that I have personally seen reiki change many lives of practitioners and receivers of the energy, however I sometimes wonder why I have this unrelenting passion to share reiki with others.
And then Living Light Reiki 2 Practitioner Ben Ramsey shared his journey with reiki. I was once again reminded of why I have such reverence for this energy.

MY REIKI JOURNEY

It was written that, "when the student is ready, the master will appear."
Such was the case with my journey into the world of Reiki.
It was at one of the lowest points of my life that I was asked by a good friend to join her Reiki circle. It was a year that I lost both of my parents, two very close friends and was left by the woman I fell into a deep depression then later reached a point where I had stopped being depressed and had become numb! Life on this plane held very little interest for me and the only thing that I looked forward to was the next life. I had researched different methods of suicide, picked the one I would use, drafted a suicide note and made the plans on where I would do it. After that it was a matter of waiting
for that final push to either do it or go on.
A few days later my friend invited me to the Living Light Reiki circle. At that point I was open to try anything, I had started practicing outer body experiences a few weeks prior, but I was still pretty much leaning towards an early exit. I attended the circle and found the atmosphere very loving and relaxing and for a brief moment I felt better about life on this plane. But it was short lived as a few days later the numbness seeped in once again and my desire to die intensified.
But this time something different happened.
While meditating, I had the mother of all outer body experiences and was touched by "the source." It was a life changing experience. It was as if God had said, "Okay, I know you're curious to see what's on the other side so here's a preview of coming attractions! Now get back to work you still have things to do on this plane." And it wasn't until my actually writing this essay right now that I realized that this OBE happened AFTER my first experience with Living Light Reiki. Was it Reiki that saved my life? I wouldn't be surprised as after that I had a desire to learn more and to actually practice it.
As a practitioner of tai chi and chi gung for many years, I was always aware of ki, chi, or prana as it is an essential part of the practice and I had discovered that, for some I had the ability to heal. I could literally "pull pain from their bodies." My nature was always that of a giver, a provider a healer so the idea of Reiki seemed a perfect fit. And so far it has been. It is now a vital part of my journey and, what I think, is my purpose for being here. It is the reason that God gave that "teaser trailer" that stopped me from ending my earthly existence.
Reiki is now a part of me. It has blended seamlessly with my tai chi and chi-gung practices. It has opened my heart like nothing ever has before. It has taught me that, essentially, I am love. I am a living conduit of loving universal energy. I look forward to sharing this love with the world.
