BALINESE CREATIVITY

BALINESE CREATIVITY

Art is a characteristic of village life and the tradition of handing down specialized skills and aesthetics from generation to generation. In each village, the inhabitants focus on a specific trade and become experts in that particular craft, whether it is jewelry, painting, woodwork, stone carving or carpentry. With the creative energy of a whole village concentrating on a particular skill, high standards of workmanship are produced.

Love of craft is evident everywhere and it is inseparable from the history, customs, culture, beliefs, superstitions and every day lives of the Balinese. And everyday is an expression of their Creativity. As an offering to the Gods, Balinese create ornate leaf and flower petal offerings left in auspicious places throughout the family compound & throughout the streets of Bali.

I spent a lot of time in Ubud, the epicenter for Art & Creativity in Bali. I enjoyed the Performing Arts- Traditional Balinese dance and musical performances that can be seen nightly at various sites in and around the town. Just walking through the Rice Fields, there are many artists painting traditional art to admire and buy(of course.)
I especially love that artistic creation linked to the spirituality . Allowing time to make the world beautiful is considered a way to thank God. Beauty is divine. The divine is in the beauty. How sweet is this idea. There is no ego involved- only true inspiration from God. FABULOUS!!!
